Al-Bustan is pleased to present Waxing Geometric—an art exhibit by Tremain Smith, a West Philadelphia-based artist who has four works in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  This exhibit represents a sampling of the encaustic and watercolor paintings that Tremain developed from 2009 to 2014 inspired by teaching at Al-Bustan programs.

Open to parents and children (2nd grader and older), this workshop will guide participants in constructing geometric patterns and incorporating Arabic letters in designs made with watercolor on paper.

ADULT WORKSHOP - Encaustic

Sunday, March  8, 2020 | 1-4 PM

Open to high schoolers and adults, this workshop will guide participants in constructing geometric patterns and teach the ancient technique of encaustic using oil paint, bees wax, and collage on wood panel.
