Percussion Continues at Northeast High School

Continuing our longstanding engagement at Northeast High School, during the 2018-19 academic year master percussionist Hafez Kotain teaches Arab percussion every Thursday during Dr. Jay Fluellen's 7th period music technology class, in addition to leading the Al-Amal Percussion Ensemble after school.Al-Amal started in Spring 2017 as a safe space for Syrian and Iraqi refugee youth to celebrate their cultural heritage while connecting with each other. We are pleased to see this initiative grow and more students joining the ensemble.
