An Immigrant Alphabet: Press Conference

Al-Bustan is pleased to be presenting "An Immigrant Alphabet" on view from September 8th through December 2017 in the Thomas Paine Plaza.

Join us September 15th outside of the Municipal Services Building Al-Bustan will be holding a press conference to formally open the installation to the public. The press conference will include presentations by Mayor Kinney, Miriam Enriquez of OIA, Patrick Morgan of Knight Foundation, Wendy Ewald, and NEHS students. It is scheduled for 10:30 AM outside the Municipal Services Building, and will be followed by a participatory Music Demonstration from 12 to 1pm featuring Arab and African American percussionists Hafez Kotain and Kwasi Daryl Burgee.

From September through December, Al-Bustan is planning, in conjunction with many partner organizations, a series of pop-up activities outdoors at Thomas Paine Plaza and in MSB classrooms. [Re]Presenting and [Ex]Changing Our America, made possible with the support of the Knight Cities Challenge, an initiative of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and PNC Arts Alive, will be a platform for promoting cross-cultural exchange and providing workshops and demonstrations with open dialogue around belonging, identity and immigration.
