Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture, the University of Pennsylvania Department of Music, and Greenfield Intercultural Center are pleased to present a performance by members of the Arab Music Ensemble class held at the University of Pennsylvania.Led by Music Director Hanna Khoury, and Cellist/Composer Kinan Abou-afach, the program will feature a medley of songs in choir and instrumental honoring Lebanese musical legend Melhem Barakat, who tragically passed away last year. Barakat was one of the leading voices of the Golden Age of Arab music from Lebanon, his voice was heard by generations of people across the Arab world and beyond.Following the choir and instrumentalist tribute will be a performance by the percussion class led by Al-Bustan's Master Percussionist Hafez Kotain! A reception with refreshments will be held afterwards.
