Music & Art at Moffet School-Fall 2017
Students from Al-Bustan’s Arab Arts After-School Program had their winter concert and exhibition at Moffet Elementary School on Thursday, December 14. Their music performances and art presentations not only brought holiday spirit, but also showed how much they have accomplished just halfway through the year. The celebration opened with Teaching Artist Lisa Volta and her students, who presented two art projects. The first was paintings based on graffiti muralists El Seed and Belal Khaled, who both make work using Arabic calligraphy. Their next project was a large, long term fiber artwork based on Sara al Haddad, an Emirati artist working with fibers. The students will collaborate to complete a fiber piece before June, name it together, and reflect on their experiences in the program.[ngg_images source="galleries" container_ids="99" display_type="photocrati-nextgen_basic_thumbnails" override_thumbnail_settings="0" thumbnail_width="120" thumbnail_height="90" thumbnail_crop="1" images_per_page="8" number_of_columns="0" ajax_pagination="1" show_all_in_lightbox="0" use_imagebrowser_effect="0" show_slideshow_link="0" slideshow_link_text="[Show slideshow]" order_by="sortorder" order_direction="ASC" returns="included" maximum_entity_count="500"]The celebration was followed by performances led by Choir Director, Serge El Helou, and Percussion Director, Hafez Kotain.
