About the performers:

Mariela was named Champion of Change for World Refugees in 2015 by President Obama and has performed for members of the U.S. Legislature and Cate Blanchett. She began playing the violin after joining the Arabic Institute of Music in Aleppo in 1999. Mariela has given recitals and masterclasses at more than 120 venues in the UK, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, UAE, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and the US. She is the founder and director of Highams Park Music Academy in London. Mariela strongly believes in music as a tool to bring people from different backgrounds together and to fashion peace and love in our world.
Riyad Nicolas is a Syrian British pianist. His first performance as a soloist with an orchestra at the age of ten in Aleppo. Since then, he has performed with many orchestras in London and concerts in Switzerland, France, Spain, Germany, Holland, Malta, the Gulf, Lebanon, and US. Riyad has won numerous international prizes and awards in several countries.
The duo’s mission is to promote peace and raise awareness for the plight of refugees through music.
