In 2003 Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture was incorporated as a non-profit in Pennsylvania and obtained its recognition of tax exemption. Founded by Hazami Sayed, Al-Bustan’s programming has grown from a two-week summer camp to year-round arts programs serving a diverse constituency of children, youth, families, educators and the general public. Ms. Sayed spearheads the organization as Executive Director, in collaboration with a team of teaching artists and educators. Our main programs include:
- Al-Bustan Camp
- Arab Music Program
- Weekend Language and Arts Workshops
- School-based Arab Cultural Arts Program
We have successfully secured multi-year city, state, and federal grants as well as private funds, and forged a partnership with the School District of Philadelphia to develop our programs and engage the highest quality artists and teachers, of Arab heritage or immersed in Arab cultural traditions, to present, demonstrate and teach their art form.
